Lovely illustrated memoir which touches on everyday struggles in love and creativity Originally the author's journal which she shared the pages of online the book lacks a defined or consistent pace There are periods of time where the entries are daily then large sometimes unexplained gaps Because it is someone's actual life there is also a lack of a strong narrative I don't think this detracts from the book in fact for me it was part of the appeal The journal begins when Julie and her partner decide to live apart then charts their unraveling not a linear process but one filled with conflicted feelings and actions There is something so compelling about the raw honesty of the simple drawings and poignant words
